Audrey Barnes is an Emmy Award winning journalist with more than 30 years of television news experience.She is currently the Director of Communications for the City of Laurel, Maryland.Her primary functions include, disseminating information about city programs and services; making emergency notifications to city residents, business owners, and visitors; and maintaining citizen outreach efforts on more than six Social Media platforms.Audrey is also tasked with overseeing operation of the Laurel TV public access television station—a role tailor-made for her with her extensive television news background. She has been a Reporter and Anchor at TV stations in five states, and at three stations in Washington DC.She was one of the first reporters to reach the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 and considers the work she did that day some of her finest.Although this is a fairly new position, Audrey has picked up several Telly Awards and will proudly be returning to Laurel with a 2015 Hometown Media Award for her staff.
