Change Management: Creating a Culture of Fundraising

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

We live in a moment of history where change is so sped up that we begin to see the present only when it is already disappearing. ~R. D. Laing

In an era when cameras are affordable, editing systems can run off home computers, and search engines and social media keep us connected, what is our value proposition as community media organizations? How do we create a future that builds a productive, efficient and compassionate organizational foundation that will withstand changes in how we meet our community’s needs? How do we engage our staff, board of directors, and community in understanding our value and seeing the importance of fundraising and earned income as a long-term sustainability strategy? How can we improve our organizational culture to be more collaborative, innovative, and less stressful?

Meet innovative change makers from community media and elsewhere who have worked in the trenches to manage change, deliver new models, shift paradigms and messaging, engage new members of the community and make a compelling case for donors. In the second half of the session, we will explore using specific tools, based in a Non-Violent Communication (NVC) practice, to move even the most change-resistant staff member, reluctant board member or unsupportive town official towards positive change and authentic conversations, and provide a shift in organizational culture that leads to sustainability, fund generation, and community/organization-wide buy in.
