Maker Spaces – New Directions in Community Media

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Maker movement is doing today what community media centers began 30 years ago, but with tools and expressive media that are outside of the historical practice of PEG organizations. As the concept of television has been radically changed in the last decade, and as Congress begins deliberation on what it means to fund public spaces in compensation for use of the public rights-of-way, it’s important to reflect the new landscape in our centers. Find out about other grassroots organizations that have had success in teaching, providing, and building in their communities. Learn about Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and the Maker movement that has captured the attention of the public and public spaces across the country.
